May 21 and 22, 2016, the annual LA County Sheriff's Spring Soccer Cup was held at Mt San Antonio College in Pamona, CA
Our first game of the day was against the US Immigration & Customs agency. This is a new team to the tournament. LA United made quick work of them, defeating them 8-0.
In our 2nd game of the day, we played a familiar team, the LA County Sheriff's "Green Team". This was a tough game as both teams are very competitive. At the 1st half, the game was still tied 0-0. However, in the second half, LA United began to put their plan together, executing more precision and eventually taking over the game defeating the Sheriff's 3-0.
Moving on to the 3rd game of the series, LA United played the Orange County Fire Agency. This is a highly skilled and fit team that challenges you early to force turn overs. The game was a seesaw - back and forth game that subsequently lead to a tie of 3-3.
Because of the point standings assigned by the tournament officials for wins, ties and loses, LA United prevailed to move on to the championship game against their infamous rivals, the LA County Sheriff's "Gold Team".
Again another grueling, physical hard fought game by both teams. Late in the second period, LA United finally scored the first goal of the game. The Sheriff's appeared to have had the wind blown out of them after that. A short time later, LA United put a 2nd goal in on net. LA United won the final game 2-0 and thus became the Champions of the tournament.
