THE LA COUNTY SHERIFF'S ANNUAL SPRING SOCCER CUP - 2015

LA County Sheriff’s Annual
Spring Soccer Cup 2015

Our 2nd tournament of the season kicked off in Walnut, CA at Mount San Antonio College soccer complex.  The annual LA County Sheriff’s Spring Soccer Cup commenced on April 25th & 26th, 2015.

Eight teams competed for bragging rights to be the top dogs in the local law enforcement/ fire agencies.
TEAMS COMPETING:
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Gold Team
LAPD – Centurions
Orange County Fire
Los Angeles Airport Police
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Green Team
LAPD – United
LA Fire Combo
LA Unified School Police

LAPD United’s first competition began with LA County Sheriff’s Green Team.  LAPD United had a rough start, appearing slow to the ball and out of sync with their passing game.
The Sheriff’s struck first with a goal, sending a message to LAPD United that they meant business.  As the game progressed, LAPD began to build in their confidence and it started to show as they scored a tying goal.  In the 2nd half, LAPD United began to organize their plays better, scoring a 2nd goal mid-way through the half.
The Sheriffs were stunned, however, they only played harder.  Near the end of regulation time, the Sheriff’s clawed their way back and tied the score.  Final score: 2 – 2.
On to our 2nd game of the day vs. LA School police.  Again another close fought game.  The end results, LAPD – United won.
The next day, April 26th, pit LAPD United against LA Fire Combo.  It was obvious the more we played, the better we got.  The pieces started to come together and we believed in our selves.  Again LAPD – United was victorious in this match.
Due to THE point system implemented to determine the teams that would move forward to the finals, LAPD-United fell short because of our first game tie and wound up playing Orange County Fire for 3rd/4th place.
Fire came on strong, however, LAPD-United had gotten rid of all the cobwebs and began playing like the well-oiled machine that they are known to be.  LAPD-United convincingly defeated Fire taking 3rd Place overall.
In the final championship game, it was LA County Sheriff’s Gold vs Green Teams.  The Gold Team prevailed and won the overall Spring Cup Championship.  Congratulations to the Sheriff’s for a great effort.  It was well earned by them.
