During the weekend of May 16 & 17, 2009, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department hosted a new soccer tournament for local area police and fire agency teams to compete.
The LAPD Soccer team accepted this invitation in hopes to further build and hone their skills for future soccer events.
LAPD ultimately won the tournament in the final game against the LA County Sheriff’s. It was a grueling game where both teams had several opportunities to score but failed. In the end, LAPD managed to get a goal early in the second half. That was sufficient to win the match. The LAPD Soccer Team was awarded the Gold Medal for their efforts.
We wish to thank our hosts, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and specifically their coach, Ruben Nava for a great soccer tournament.
